Candlesticks is a family business owned, since 1975 by Mr & Mrs Pinto. The family are originally from the Portuguese Island of Madeira. Manuel Pinto, the proprietor, learnt his craft in renowned places such as The Savoy and Reids before working in Jersey then Manchester and London. His vast knowledge has been passed on to his son Nelio who now runs the business. Nelio is an international wine judge and educator. The Business is a "Restaurant with Rooms" and as such we are always here during restaurant hours to give you personal service and when we are not here we are at the end of the phone. The restaurant and rooms enjoy an excellent reputation, built up by word of mouth and repeat customers, some through three generations. There is free wifi throughout the bar and bedrooms.
Candlesticks is situated in a quiet lane in the oldest part of the market town of Stamford. The building itself dates back to around 1730. Originally five empty derelict cottages, they were sympathetically converted and restored in 1974, and Candlesticks opened as a restaurant in 1975 and has been under the same ownership since then.
