Chigwell enjoys a superb reputation within Essex and is a regular venue for Pro-Ams, County and large corporate golfing events. Located some 10 miles north east of Central London and the City, close to the A13, M11 and within easy reach of the M25. Designed by Hawtree and Taylor the course was first opened for play in 1925. Set on undulating parkland the 18 hole, 6309 yard course with a par of 71, takes full advantage of all its natural features. With well-guarded greens and excellent mature trees that line the fairways the course holds a challenge for all levels of golfer. The par 3’s which vary in length from 191 yards to 136 yards provide a tough test for golfers of all abilities — especially for visitors trying for the Nearest the Pin prizes. However a number of members have their names on the ‘Hole in One’ Honours Board, so clearly, they are not impossible.
