In my technical roles, my strengths have always been understanding a customer’s requirements and developing a specification. On a personal level this translates to being a good listener, being able to understand what a person is trying to do (whether they are technically-minded or not) and having the ability to explain the solution in terms that the person can understand. I have been an IT professional since the mid-1980s. In the early years, in addition to my technical role, I often found myself acting as teacher or helper – and I enjoyed it. In my spare time I helped business colleagues, friends and relatives to purchase, set up and use their PCs. This activity grew and since 2002 I have run it as a small business around Knutsford.
