James Adam opened its doors to the public in late 1993 from a rented premises in Woodbridge. James Adam began with the company specialising in Classical Wooden Beds and locally manufactured Suffolk Mattresses. Bespoke handmade furniture and bedsteads in Suffolk were undertaken from the start and James Adam quickly gained a national reputation as one of East Anglia’s bespoke hand made furniture and Suffolk bedstead makers. Special size, bespoke, hand made furniture including furniture design was at the forefront of the company’s philosophy. James Adam’s Suffolk cabinet making was well underway and slowly our Suffolk and Continental workshops started to produce bespoke special size furniture, hand made bedframes and bedsteads, Four Posters and Half Testers. With the growth of the business James Adam were able to buy a large 4,000 sq ft Suffolk, Woodbridge Furniture retail premises late in 2001 and ten years later there had been enormous change with James Adam manufacturing furniture in Suffolk for every area of the home.
