Kingston Art Group Gallery

Between 1992 and 2012 the group occupied a former bakery on Caroline Place in the city centre. In May 2012 we made the move to new accommodation in two separate locations: studios at Barmston Street and studios with gallery at Humber Street. These are located near to the city centre with the gallery placed at the hub of the cultural quarter: Hull’s Fruitmarket. Converting the buildings was funded by the Arts Council England, Hull City Council and income from members. Since 1989, KAG has contributed to and initiated many important visual arts events in the city. The group has exhibited in local and national venues with many strong links to studio groups and artists’ networks both across the region and the UK. Existing and new relationships are strengthened by the gallery space and the opportunities this provides. As artists in their own right, members have established reputations through exhibitions and events locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. Current and previous membership includes those who are employed in the arts and other sectors, the unemployed, overseas artists, students, artists returning to live and work in the area, and those wishing to develop artistically and professionally.
