They were master plasterers and renowned stuccodores, specialising in solid and decorative plasterwork including in-situ work. Much of their work is still on display in churches, chapels, bank buildings, government buildings and stately homes across Ireland. My father, James McAteer, and his brother John joined the business in the 1950s and continued in the same line of work. I myself joined in 1980 and worked under the watchful eye of my father James. I now work along with my father, James, and my son, Daniel, who has recently joined the firm.
McAteer Plastering is now a fourth generation family company of stuccodores, owned by myself, Jim McAteer. It was established in the year 1900, by my grandfather, William John McAteer and his brother James McAteer. His other brother Neil McAteer also worked in the firm.
