Finally in 2012 I found the excuse to purchase a DSLR, within a few months photography became an obsession, I really enjoyed the results from using a DSLR and the days gone by of using a 35mm SLR came flooding back. The next several months became an addiction to learning about the technology, the skill and the passion to take me forward. I am a surveyor by profession which probably helped with the technical and ‘factual’ aspect of using a DSLR. I initially became drawn to the colour of landscapes and the natural light of the early morning sunrise. It requires a considerable work ethic to be in the right place at the right time, requiring lots of patience and dedication. For every successful trip there is an unsuccessful one, and dragging yourself out of bed at 4am is not easy, however I do enjoy the solitude. I started with landscape photography, however I have found photographing more formal and specific occasions more rewarding. weddings, portraits and more informal reportage is enjoyable, to see the faces of the happy couple and their friends smiling and laughing is fantastic.
Back when I was in secondary school became interested in photography through and art project, with the help of my father I set about taking images on An Olympus 35mm SLR with a black and white film, I enjoyed the results, learning about the technology and experimenting with different light effects, from that moment, I was sold. It would however be several years later that I finally purchased a DSLR.
