As an enthusiastic racing dinghy sailor our present Managing Director started out building G.P.14 and Enterprise dinghies from a lock up garage in 1957. From this followed the manufacture of the fittings in gunmetal, to such an extent that other builders started purchasing these items. A company was formed in 1959 as Small Boat supplies and became a limited company in 1961. The main purpose at that time was the manufacture of dinghy fittings for the fast growing racing dinghy market. SBS Trailers was formed to specialise in this market. Trailer production increased rapidly and from 90 a year in 1965 we are now probably the UK’s largest specialist boat trailer manufacturer.
