Sable Studio Gallery is situated in the beautiful grounds of the Moira Furnace Museum overlooking Ashby canal where there is free parking, toilet facilities, cafe and other craft units as well as boat rides, children's park and picnic areas. The gallery offers classes and workshops in painting and drawing, mosaics, jewellery making, glass painting and decorative furniture techniques. Your tutor? is professional published artist Jo Allsopp who was recently featured on the new BBC 1 tv series 'Home is where the Art is' BB C One presented by Nick Knowles (episode 3) Also in the gallery you will find some truly beautiful hand made gifts for sale which include; jewellery (including Sliksilver keepsake fingerprints), original paintings, prints, cards, glassware, pottery, mosaics, mirrors, furniture (includes personalised children's toy boxes, table and chairs plus keepsake boxes), house signs and much more. We also offer commissions; portraits of family (or a pet pawtrait!), logo designs, personalised house portraits, unique christening gifts, children's bedroom murals and sign painting. Other services on offer include the very popular 'Arty Party' where your child can choose their chosen craft project, invite all of their friends to make their super arty items here in the gallery where we will even clear up all of the mess for you. The room can also be hired for party food afterwards, otherwise why not let them bring a picnic to enjoy overlooking the canal where there is lots of open space for them to run around.
