Please note that work by other people is not available to buy online but can be viewed at the gallery. The Elm Gallery is part of The Old Post House in Topcliffe, which is a Grade II listed building dating from the 1700s. The building was bought by Liz and Dave Marsh in October 2015, after having got planning permission to convert the commercial side of the building to a gallery. The rest of the building is their home. In the 1700s, The Old Post House would have been a house or inn for exchanging post-horses and accommodating Workshoppostriders. There is still a very old stable block to the rear of the property where the horses would have been kept and which Liz and Dave now use as a frame making workshop. In more recent times, up to about 35 years ago, The Old Post House was the village post office and still has the original post office window as well as the postbox, which is now sealed. The Elm Gallery is the second gallery that Liz and Dave have had. Their first gallery was at Addingham Moorside, two miles off the main road and almost on Ilkley Moor. It was in an old barn called The Elm, so it became The Elm Gallery. Over 8 years, the name of the gallery became their trading name and was still used after the first gallery closed. When Liz and Dave bought The Old Post House, they renovated the commercial side of the building and opened in December 2015 as the new Elm Gallery. The new gallery has three rooms of arts and crafts, two on the first floor and one on the first floor. The back room on the ground floor overlooks a delightful walled garden.
