Dating back to 1639, The White Hart Hotel was originally a Posting Inn for horse-drawn carriages crossing the open moor from Exeter to Princetown, looking for shelter for the night. The horses would be changed and the weary passengers treated to a home cooked meal, a pint of local ‘scrummy’ cider and a warm bed for the night. The Hotel has long offered a comforting beacon on a cold night for travellers. It is now a family-owned hotel, but a roaring fire, delicious meal, cosy bed and a warm welcome still awaits every one of our guests. The Hotel is Grade II listed and we take great pride in being its current custodians and have sympathetically refurbished it to provide all modern comforts within a traditional setting. We are proud that the Hotel plays an important part in the heart of the town.
