Chiropractic specialises in diagnosis, treatment and overall management of conditions which are due to mechanical dysfunction of joints, particularly of the spine and their effects on the nervous system. Chiropractic’s primary goal is not simply to alleviate the pain that is often experienced in and around the back, although that is often one of the beneficial side-effects of chiropractic care. Instead chiropractors strive to ensure that the complex “communicationsuperhighway” within the spinal column called the nervous system, is able to accurately relay information back and forth between all parts of the body. Chiropractors use a number of different techniques including manipulation to the joints of the spine or other areas of the body. Most often this involves a short impulse to the joint, bringing relief of symptoms. Other techniques are diversified adjustments, dry needling and soft tissue techniques.
