During these years I became interested particularly in working with male and female survivors of childhood abuse. This developed also from an interest in the long term effects of trauma resulting in post traumatic stress disorder. The business also provided training in counselling. The Peter Bowes Consultancy was a private training provider of a Certificate in Counselling Skills validated by COSCA and a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling accredited by BACP and validated by Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. In addition, training in related skills was designed for a wide range of voluntary and commercial businesses. As an Executive Mentor, I worked for NHS Scotland and the Royal Bank of Scotland amongst others. Working with one to one relationships often stemmed from management and leadership development with teams particularly when change of organisational culture was sought.
I have worked as a counsellor or psychotherapist for individuals and couples and that has been my business full time since 1993. Therapy is provided, according to need, short term and long term. It is provided privately, for a significant number of Employee Assistance Programme businesses, Insurance companies and other occupational health services and in an NHS Health Centre in West Lothian.
