Chappell & Dix

Building Company in Wotton under Edge, Gloucestershire

Business Info

Approximately one third of the skilled workforce have been trained as apprentices by the Company through the Construction Industry Training Board scheme and several joinery trainees have been nominated for and won national skills awards. The Company became incorporated in June 1990 and moved shortly afterwards to its present location in Charfield, near Wotton-under-Edge. The move to larger premises also enabled the development of the Joinery Workshop which produces purpose made joinery to suit all buildings. Over the years, Chappell & Dix Ltd have developed a reputation for quality construction from small domestic projects, say perhaps a small porch or extension to a domestic property, barn conversions, new build projects and complete restoration of historically important properties. The company continues to develop whilst retaining its well earned reputation within both the industry and the community. It prides itself on ensuring that due care and attention is given to all aspects of its work and that this is maintained and honoured by all its employees.

Repair, restoration, refurbishment and adaptation of a wide range of historic buildings have been a core of the family business. Work has been successfully completed on traditional timber framed structures, Cotswold Stone Manor houses and lime rendered Regency buildings, and the historic status of Grade 1; Grade 2* or even Scheduled Ancient Monument poses no concern to our skilled and experienced workforce. Indeed many awards have been received for this type of work. Typical projects range in value between £50,000 and £4 million, with a geographical work area encompassing Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Warwickshire and Oxfordshire; however the Company is happy to discuss opportunities beyond both of these financial and geographic fields.
