I became interested in osteopathy when I was at school. I played a lot of sport and developed knee and lower back pain with cricket and rugby respectively. On both occasions I was helped by an osteopath who's enthusiasm for his work was infectious. I decided at that point to see if I could pursue osteopathy as a career. I went to study at the British School of Osteopathy, graduating in 1983. I have since run practices in North Staffordshire and South Cheshire and now work full time in Congleton, Cheshire. I studied psychotherapy in the early 90's which helped further my understanding of mind-body interactions and my current academic interests are in exploring how research in the areas of neuroscience, trauma and pain education can inform my practise. I remain active, enjoying mountain biking, hill running and yoga and work closely with personal trainers and yoga instructors to help people recovering from injury or to assist a safe return to activity as part of their overall health plan.
