1994 was the year The Eye Man came to be. With an extremely unconventional location we decided we had to be more than just another optical. After spending his days in the basement of Bascom Palmer Eye Institute enucleating eyeballs (ewe- for those of you unfamiliar with this term- it’s the technical term for removing), Fabian knew eyes were his passion and decided to further his education at Miami Dade Community College. He became well known in his school as student vice president and was involved in the Brain Bowl Committee and Staff Search Committee. In 1989, he graduated and received an Award of Appreciation for his outstanding contribution to the first year students at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. His favorite professor still jokes with him to this day at CE seminars about him being a thorn in his side (talk about leaving an impression). Fabian spent many years actively serving on the board of Professional Optician’s of Florida, one of his many positions being Chapter President. After helping a group of surgeons successfully open an optical in their busy waiting room he went on to pursue his dream. In 1994, his dream became a reality and The Eye Man Optical was established. Fabian is best known for his friendly approach and passion for fashion. He will definitely leave an impression.
