There are 3 modes of heat transfer: 1) Conduction 2) Convection and 3) Radiation. Radiation is the dominant mode of heat transfer in most cases. Traditional mineral insulation does a sufficient job of combating heat transfer through conduction and convection. However it is ineffective against Radiant Heat Transfer. In our climate, up to 50% of heat is lost through radiant heat transfer. This is where EnergyGuard Radiant Barrier has it’s place. This state-of-the-art reflective foil insulation with a 6.5mm fibreglass core reflects 97% of radiant heat striking it. Using EnergyGuard on it’s own or together with regular mineral insulation keeps radiant heat out of the building in the summer, and in the building during the winter months. This helps us to keep a more ambient temperature inside our buildings without turning up the air conditioning in the summer or the thermostat in the winter.
