Murgatroyds

When I’m in London I’m called Sir, when I’m in Bradford it’s Mr. Murgatroyd, but when I’m in t’mill it’s ‘t’owd bugger’s back again!’.” He was hard but fair, and today the uncompromising spirit of ‘Billy Murg’ lives on in Murgatroyds, Britain’s Finest Fish and Chip Emporium. As Billy himself would have undoubtedly said, Why settle for less than t’best?” Whatever you choose from our menu, we’re sure you’ll enjoy it because ‘ard Billy Murg simply wouldn’t have it any other way! Murgatroyds opened in the summer of 1994, and is run by the Chadwick family. Brothers Andrew and James are the managing directors, and their daughters are part of the management team, involved in the day to day running of the restaurant. Murgatroyds is named after Billy Murgatroyd, owner of Moorfield Mills, which stood on the site of the present building and helped put Yeadon on the map in the 1870s. The restaurant has fast become one of the most well-known fish and chip restaurants in Yorkshire, something that we are extremely proud of. We use only the highest quality ingredients; our fish is sourced from renewable fish stock in Icelandic waters and delivered straight to the restaurant.
