Pinos Cafe” is located in Mountain Ash and is run by Andrew and Marina Carpanini, the third generation of Carpaninis to serve the people of the Cynon Valley since 1926. It all began when Andrew’s grandfather, Andrea Carpanini, came over from Bardi in Italy like many other Italians, and in 1926 opened the Corner Cafe” in Glancynon Terrace, Abercynon. Later in 1946, his two sons, Pino (Giuseppe) and Maurice (Maurizio) joined the business and in 1954 a second shop was opened in Mountain Ash, run by the eldest son Pino who later went on to marry Maria and have two sons. They continued to run the cafe as a family business until the untimely death of Pino some years ago.
