We started with a vocal arrangement of Barber’s Adagio bursting into O Fortuna from Carmina Burana. This was certainly a surprise and the faces of the audience showed rapt interest from then on. We sang the first two movements of Vivaldi’s Gloria followed by Bach’s Lobet Den Herrn. The audience joined in with Jerusalem and then we had a bright, funny and somewhat disturbing rendition of Poisoning Pigeons in the park. Ave Maria by Jenkins was followed by a setting of Pi to 100 places which Daniel wrote. Sarah Carley then stunned the audience with She Used to be Mine (available on You Tube as her husband filmed it from his mobile phone whilst holding a sleeping child!). Mozart’s Ave Verum and Dies Irae, Jenkins Laudamus Te and a rousing rendition of The Rhythm of Life (complete with audience participation) led to the audience and choir combining to sing Thine Be the Glory with a descant written by Daniel.
