Nicholas & Elizabeth Stephens met while training to be Optometrists in London & moved to Cleethorpes in 1991 to take over the family firm when Keith retired. They setup a new branch in Barton-upon-Humber in 1994 which they sold to Eyesite on 16 January 2018; to facilitate Elizabeth’s retirement. Today the husband and wife team are the Directors of Stephens Opticians Limited. The Cleethorpes branch is conveniently located in the town centre and are privileged to serve the needs of the community in a large part of North East Lincolnshire.
Nicholas Stephens qualified as an Optometrist in 1985. He is the third generation with optical connections. His grandfather Alan Stephens was a Chemist Optician for the CO-OP in Wakefield. His father Keith Stephens moved to Grimsby & Cleethorpes in 1959. He was an Ophthalmic Optician manager for the Evans Opticians practices which he subsequently went on to purchase and later relocated to the present site in Cleethorpes.
