SV Timber

The company was started with a very modest budget, it didn’t have a customer to its name and worked from a giant fridge within the company’s original home at Crompton Road, Ilkeston. To say the unit was primitive was an understatement, the first mission was to get running water and some toilets!! But we all have to start somewhere and over time Crompton Road was a great home to us. S V Timber moved from Crompton Road at the start of 2012 and purchased a new site at Belfield Street which remains its home today. The site has changed a lot over the time here with huge amounts of racking being installed and the purchase of a ½ acre yard to the back of the building and a planned office extension and new board room for 2017. 2015 saw further expansion for the company with the addition of our new S V Timber Leicester site. The branch at South Wigston has enjoyed rapid growth and has fast become an established merchant within the Leicester area. Things are never dull at our group and with the guidance of our superb management team including Financial Director, Mandy Freeman; Amber Mills Timber MD, John Vardy; Ilkeston Branch Director Richard Rowley and Wigston Branch Director Tudor Jones, the future looks very bright and no doubt there will be further expansions and exciting projects still to come.

The company was started back in 2004 by founder Ed Holder, and set up home in Ilkeston. Being a Leicester born and bred boy, and also having partners from the area the original company name was Soar Valley Timber (Midlands) Limited. Around 3 years later the original partners were bought out by Ed and at that point the name was shortened to S V Timber Limited, to have something a little more catchy whilst maintaining a nod to the original name and still keeping a part of the by now established company identity.
