Fifty years after they opened their first branch in Risca, they now have an additional two branches at Pontypool and Newport. Even today the company is run by the family including Terry and Wendy and their two sons Martin and Tim who are both directors and oversee the running of their various branches. Terry Howell Ltd not only has the capability of cutting timber to any specification but we can also treat it using our on site pressure treatment plant which can treat both green and brown. We have a fleet of sixteen vehicles including six lorries most of which are fitted with hiabs to deliver bulk bags and larger orders and pick-ups to deliver smaller domestic orders. All of our timber comes from fully sustainable and renewable resources and our sawmills are exceptionally environmentally friendly and produce no waste at all as every part of the log is used for something in the timber industry, right down to the sawdust which is stock piled and sold. Even the timber we do not mill ourselves is provided by FSC certified suppliers.
Terry originally started with a sawmill situated in Rogerstone and used to make components for wooden ladders, he then moved on to making chocks which were used in the coal mines throughout the valleys of south Wales. Finally he moved into sawmilling fencing materials such as featheredge, posts and rails etc. Now they have sawmills at Rogerstone and at Pontypool which are capable of producing just about anything you could require in the way of fencing or timber.
