The name Kent has been synonymous with the highest quality of hairstyling for men for more than seven decades. His salon at Yardley, on the edge of Birmingham, pioneered a new concept by combining a swift, instantaneous service with a standard of hair care which had not previously been available to the vast majority of the male population. His business philosophy caught the imagination of thousands of customers who travelled from miles around. As the daily queues outside his salon lengthened and stretched ever farther down the pavement, Vic Kent was forced to take on more assistants. His sons David and Eric later took over the business and expanded it into a large chain of shops.
It was in 1934 that Vic Kent first opened for business and unwittingly became the founding father of what would eventually grow into the largest independent group of barber shops in the whole of the United Kingdom.
