Wylam is the birthplace of railway pioneer George Stephenson and Wormald House stands on the site of the birthplace of one of his contempories, Timothy Hackworth - Stephenson's Cottage, now owned by the National Trust, is situated 1/2 mile east of the village. We are only 1/2 mile from the Hadrian's Wall National Trail and offer every facility for walkers and cyclists. The Hadrian's Cycle Way (Route 72) almost passes the house and we offer safe cycle storage.

Both are accessible by train from the village station, we have easy access to Newcastle Airport and secure off-road parking.
