Located beside the Stormont Estate in east Belfast, Knock is a beautiful parkland golf course measuring 6,428 yards, par 70. Originally established in 1895, the course moved to the current location Summerfield” in 1920, with leading golf course architects, Colt, Mackenzie and Allison being instructed to design the new course layout. Always in superb condition with fast greens and beautiful fairways, the course still retains many of the original features that were imagined all those years ago.

Situated in the country surrounds of Lady Dufferin’s Estate, we offer two courses of international standing. The Dufferin Course is one of the Highest Rated Championship Courses in Ireland. The Ava Course is shorter but offers a real test of accuracy.

Male golfers have been competing for championship titles such as The Open since the mid-19th century. Men’s professional golf, however, began to be played at today’s level only the late 1940s and early 1950s.

In the Summer of 1881, Thomas Sinclair spent a holiday in Scotland, which included a visit to St. Andrews to play golf. He was immediately smitten and his return home he sought out George L Baillie, a local teacher and an experienced golfer, originally from Musselburgh in Scotland.

Until recently our Professional was Michael Bannon who now coaches Rory McIlroy and you will often see Rory and Michael throughout the year on the course or practice fairway perfecting his skills before the next competition.

As a visitor or new member you will find a welcoming environment both on the Course and in the Clubhouse. Since our recent refurbishment of the Clubhouse we have seen a rise in demand for Functions and Parties.
