The only members’ golf club in Welwyn Garden City. A club run by the members for the members, but which prides itself on providing a warm, friendly environment for members and visitors alike, both on the course and in the clubhouse.
Our challenging par 72 course was designed by James Braid in 1905 so we are now well into our second century as a thriving members’ club situated in the heart of historic St Albans, known as Verulamium in Roman times.
We are a traditional Members’ Club with over 800 members, but there’s always a welcome on the mat for societies and visitors. The Club was founded in 1908 and is a fine example of the design skills of the famous Course Architect, Willie Park Jnr.
The Clubhouse has been built on the same plot as the old clubhouse so it therefore retains the unique and dramatic position overlooking the 18th green. The two-floor layout includes floor-to-ceiling glass windows at both levels which provide spectacular and uninterrupted views of the green.
Keith, Sally & Andrew Smith founded Whitehill in 1988. The course was carefully constructed on their farmland in keeping with the beautiful natural countryside. Keith, Andrew, Stephen James PGA professional and our green staff adapted the course layout from the original design by Reg Plumbridge.
