Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an ancient system of healing. Illness is a sign of disharmony and a disruption in the flow of Qi”, or the vital energy” within the body. Qi consists of Yin” and Yang”. They are two opposites but complementary. These two forces need to be balanced, otherwise disease or illness occurs in the body. TCM aims to harmonize the flow of qi to restore health. Acupuncture, acupressure, herbalism, cupping, moxibustion, qigong, tuina and diet are different aspects of TCM.
Initial consultation is an hour and half, which will allow sufficient time for investigation, an accurate diagnosis and immediate treatment. No pressure will be applied to persuade any patient to undertake follow-up consultations although a course of six treatments or more is quite commonly required.
I am graduate of the Collage of Integrated Chinese medicine in Reading, gaining a BSc (Hons) degree in Acupuncture, and receiving a Licentiate in Acupuncture, after a 4 year course in both Traditional Chinese medicine, which initially concentrates on signs and symptoms, and 5 Element Chinese medicine, which approaches healing from the emotional and spiritual aspect.
