The Academy was founded in September 1978 by its principal, Janine Clark, as her Mother closed "The Grace Freeman School of Dancing" in the March of 1978, Janines Aunt Kath was also a dance teacher and examiner with the AAD. The dance school has a 3rd generation of teachers with Janines daughter Victoria teaching too.

Deirdre Lee trained at the Royal Ballet School in London on the dancer’s course. A foot injury prevented a ballet career and after working in the commercial and straight theatre she retrained and qualified as a Cecchetti Classical ballet teacher in 1994 with Eve Leveaux at Derby Academy of Classical Dance. Post qualification she spent three months at the National Ballet School in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Leonard School of Dance was founded in 1981 by Helen Leonard. It is a specialist classical ballet school that offers highly qualified tuition in the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus from Pre-Primary to Advanced.

We are an established dance school in the Nottingham and Derby area, offering dance classes and lessons in Ballroom, Latin American, Sequence, Salsa, Rock & Roll and Line Dancing.
