YYM was established in 2004 to provide advanced training for exceptionally talented young musicians aged between 8 and 18 within the Yorkshire and Humber region. It aims to enable specialist young musicians in the region to benefit from the highest quality tuition in their locality, rather than having to travel long distances or go away to school.

Working in the City of York and across surrounding areas of Yorkshire, we want everyone to be able to experience the benefits of playing a musical instrument; team work and social skills, concentration and self-discipline, self-esteem and creativity.…..and fun!

Alan John Moore provides professional, friendly, piano lessons to beginner and intermediate students, aged 7 to adult, in Malton and across Ryedale (see Teaching Testimonials).

I have been giving one-to-one lessons in piano and guitar since I was at school myself — that’s over 25 years experience as a piano teacher!! During this time, I’ve taught many absolute beginners, setting the foundations of a lifetime’s enjoyment in playing music! My youngest pupils have been around 5 years old (and these kids are introduced to music with a very varied curriculum of activities including singing, hand percussion, and games etc). On the other end of scale, I have taught people up to and beyond retirement age — people who get a great deal of pleasure from learning to play familiar tunes!

Harrogate Music School offers music lessons at the Harrogate Grammar School on a wide variety of instruments. Established in 1991 we offer a large choice of instrument tuition, not only for our pupils but also to adults and children from all over Harrogate and its surrounding districts. More and more adults are now making use of our facilities. Why not learn a new instrument!
