The swimming pool measuring 12.5m x 6m was built along with the house in 1988 to accommodate our three sons who were all committed to swimming. Eventually the boys went on to swim at national level before going on to university.

In addition to public access many local schools use the pool plus several local clubs including the historic Tyldesley Swimming & Water Polo Club who also play water polo matches at the Pelican Centre. The pool in combination with the hall is a popular location for pool parties each weekend.

It was considered at the time an unusual venture but John took a chance and made a success. Here we are 48 years later. The school is now run by husband and wife team Ged and Maria along with their eldest son Ben. Ged and Ben provide the professional teaching and Maria is the office manager.
