The Forms are a prearranged set of movements used to develop and programme your body. Each movement or shape within a form is used for defensive or offensive purposes. Each movement is combined with another movement to form techniques or a drill.

Reikan are a family friendly club with most lessons open to children, adults and families to train together. Classes are suitable for all levels of fitness. We have found that a good age to start is about 5 years. If your child is younger or around the age of five, we suggest you come down and have a look at what we do to gauge suitability, as we are fully aware that no two children are the same. We welcome visitors to our classes, just say hello to one of the instructors.

One of the original "Seven Samurai" he started his Karate journey in January 1964 under the tutelage of Professor Dr. Vernon Bell, the first Shotokan Instructor in the UK. He is also one of the very few to have been taught by the Japanese instructors Tetsuji Murakami and Hiroo Mochizuki. A staunch traditionalist, he became one of the first in Britain to obtain a black belt under the Japan Karate Association in January 1967.

It doesn't matter whether you have trained in karate or martial arts before, or you are a complete beginner, all are welcome. Beginners are taught dojo etiquette which includes club rules and behaviour. They also learn the basic principles of wadoryu which will lead them on the way to their first grading.

Welcome to Associated Karate Schools (AKS). We provide professional tuition in traditional and sport karate. Our students work to a progressive grading syllabus from beginner to black belt. This includes Wado-Ryu and Shito-Ryu traditional karate, practical self-defence, free sparring, WKF sport karate and fitness circuit training.

IMPAKT Kickboxing is NOT Thai Boxing (Muay Thai), Shotokan Karate, Freestyle Karate, Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do, Jui Jitsu, Krav Maga, Kickboxercise, Boxercise, Aerobics, Tae Bo, Khai Bo, the Martial Arts list goes on. Kickboxing exists because during the 1970's, Martial Artists across the globe wanted a system whereby they could compete on an equal footing, that is to say, exponents in the West i.e.

We also offer that children train for free when they train with a parent. This is a great way to engage the whole family in a sport you can love and save money in the process. Classes are Wednesday and Friday nights and with regular gradings you can progress quickly up through the ranks to become a Black Belt. We teach Taekwon Do to the standards and to the spirit of Taekwon Do as envisioned by it's creator General Choi Hong Hi 9th Dan. Therefore our syllabus is ITF style Taekwon Do.
