Here at Rita's Dog Parlour, its all about the dogs. Our 1st priority is making your dog feel welcome and at ease. We have been taking care of our customers pets for over 30 years.

Friends for Pets was set up in the Cheddar area of Somerset in 2008 by Becca Wilson. Always wanting a career with animals, Becca completed an MSc in Animal Science specialising in Animal Behaviour & Welfare. As part of this course Becca worked on a collaborative project between Bristol University Veterinary School and a Working Equine Charity in Pakistan which included helping to train the vets and animal health workers in Pakistan and East Africa.

I've previously worked as a qualified veterinary nurse and spent 25 years working in small animal practice within Bristol and the surrounding area . While working in practice I would clip/trim dogs and cats who needed sedation because they were to naughty/nervous for groomers to handle , this is where my interest in grooming began .

You leave your dog with us for about 2 hours (no dog is kept waiting). Your dog will be groomed from beginning to end by one groomer who is with your dog throughout. She will discuss with you exactly how you would like your dog cut i.e. maybe in the winter a thicker body coat left but the underbelly and legs shorter for muddy walks! Any problem areas efficiently sorted.

As dog lovers, our dog groomers believe that the handling and comfort of the dogs in their care is as important as the haircuts they offer. The better the experience the dog has whilst in the grooming room, the more it learns to work with us and the better our continuous relationship will be and therefore the happier the dog will be. All our staff are carefully selected so they have that special something that enables them to bond with and get the best from the dog.
