Acupuncture works by enhancing and balancing the ‘qi’ or vital energy of the body. The use of acupuncture can be invaluable in the management of the symptoms of many common physical and emotional problems. It can work well as the sole treatment option, but also in combination with other treatment modalities, including Western medicine, osteopathy, physiotherapy etc.

Jo has a four year BSc Honours degree in Acupuncture from the highly respected College of Chinese Integrated Medicine which is affiliated to Kingston University. With a background in education, Jo's initial interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine was sparked after she sought treatment for insomnia, wanting a natural approach to its management instead of a chemical one. Through clinical practice, Jo has seen at first hand, the benefits acupuncture can bring to patients both as a single therapy and alongside Western medicine.

Lorraine is a professionally qualified Acupuncturist, practising since 1997. She is a member of the British Acupuncture Council and adheres to their strict Codes of Safe Practice and Professional Conduct. She is fully insured. Lorraine practises in Wokingham from her large, self-contained, private treatment room offering a welcoming and relaxing environment.

Acupuncture originated in China and other far eastern cultures where it still features in mainstream healthcare, both as a stand-alone therapy and in combination with conventional western medicine. It is now widely used and accepted all over the world. In the UK more and more people are finding out what acupuncture can do for them.
