Established in the local area for over 30 years, the practice offers expert, individual eyecare for the whole family. Benjamin’s is an independent Optometrists & Contact Lens Practitioners based in Skipton, headed up by Dispensing Optician Liz Ellis, who has over 25 years experience in vision care. Bottomley Opticians first opened in Halifax in 1948, when optometrist and original owner Randolph Bottomley set up his own independent optical practice. Since that time, we have remained a truly family-owned and run business. Randolph’s son John joined him to work in the practice, eventually taking the business over upon his father’s retirement. John continued Bottomley Opticians’ success story, taking the practice from strength to strength and opening our second branch in Lindley, Huddersfield in 1990.

Our leading man Jarrod started his career as a trainee dispensing optician in 1992. He became a member of the Association of British Dispensing Opticians in 1996 and eventually overtook the company he was working for in 2003. He started the clinic in Pudsey with one aim in mind, to provide superior eye care services to customers across West Yorkshire.

Whitakers Opticians has been an independently owned, family run business since 1932. Following a health scare in 2014-15, Jonathan Whitaker (the third generation of the Whitaker family to own the business) took the immense decision to sell the practice. He was delighted when two long standing professional members of staff, David Armitage and Richard Barker, agreed to purchase the business as he knew that David and Richard would continue to work tirelessly to maintain the reputation of Whitakers Opticians, built over the past 80 years.
