From an early stage in his career, David developed a working knowledge of historic buildings and their problems, including matters relating to dampness, timber decay and wood-boring insect activity. This led to the inspection and reporting on the condition of many historically important buildings in and around London. With a long-term interest in architecture and historic buildings, David was in his element from the beginning.
