Thakeham Furniture is a small, family business, established by Tim and Belinda Chavasse in 1987. Tim and Belinda met at college, whilst studying to become antique furniture restorers - Tim coming from Agricultural College, and brought up with antiques, and Belinda with a degree in Art History. Our colleague Anthony Tester, a highly skilled restorer, has been with us from the start.

We have over 35 years of experience selling furniture and have a wealth of knowledge of the products we sell and are more than happy to help you through the selection process. We make it our mission to support British Manufacturers wherever possible; all of our beds and most of our upholstery and bedroom furniture are made in the UK.

Our highly skilled team hand-make and hand-finish each individual piece of furniture in our West Sussex workshop. A truly bespoke service, we build our kitchens to suit your tastes and needs. By using proven traditional joinery methods and selecting the finest materials we ensure our kitchens are both stunning and unique every time as well as created to last a lifetime.

From the intricacies of skills honed for antique restoration and cabinet making comes a fresh and modern approach to contemporary high quality bespoke furniture production for both public and the trade. Each piece is hand made here in the UK from our workshop on the South East coast and tailored exactly to our client’s demands, ensuring every attentional to detail is given during the manufacturing process.
