The company was started back in 2004 by founder Ed Holder, and set up home in Ilkeston. Being a Leicester born and bred boy, and also having partners from the area the original company name was Soar Valley Timber (Midlands) Limited. Around 3 years later the original partners were bought out by Ed and at that point the name was shortened to S V Timber Limited, to have something a little more catchy whilst maintaining a nod to the original name and still keeping a part of the by now established company identity.

Our highly skilled team of purchasers secure products at minimum prices, so we can pass on as much discount to you, the end user, as possible. We offer professional and DIY products, however, the boundaries between the two have pretty much disappeared over recent years.

We are a family run timber merchant established in 1974. Based in Sutton-in-Ashfield, we have supplied timber and joinery products to Sutton-in-Ashfield, Mansfield, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Mansfield Woodhouse, Annesley, Clipstone, Alfreton and other areas surrounding Sutton-in-Ashfield for many years. We now offer this same service nationally using courier networks. We are a diverse company offering many different products and ranges in addition to our core timber supply business.

Handicentre Ltd is a family run business, established in 1973 with the opening of Bingham Handicentre, our iconic orginal DIY and hardware store. We offer a friendly and efficient customer service, fair pricing and a comprehensive well stocked range of products. We cater for both trade and retail customers.
