Taking the step to come to counselling for the first time can seem challenging, even frightening. This may be a time when you are experiencing feelings of uncertainty and doubt, confusion and pain. From my experience as an accredited therapist, I know that talking to a counsellor can be very helpful.

A counsellor who provides Counselling, Play Therapy and help with Difficult Behaviour in Children situated in Bognor Regis, West Sussex. I work with couples and individuals of all ages who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.

We all have times in our lives when we feel lost, confused or stuck either personally or professionally. This is a natural part of our engagement in our lives. Our movement through these times is part of our overall growing and developing. Often we can successfully negotiate these difficult phases ourselves, but sometimes we may decide that we need some help. It is this kind of help, facilitation and support that I aim to provide, in a confidential, sensitive and respectful setting.

I have many years experience as a psychotherapist and counsellor, and in 2001 moved my practice from Berkshire to West Sussex. My experience includes short-term work focused on a specific current issue, more in-depth and wide-ranging medium-term work, and longer-term work arising from complex multiple early traumas or severely disrupted early attachment relationships.

Like the sea our lives ebb and flow. In a similar way counselling often enables old words and thoughts to flow out and new words and thoughts to flow in, giving us a more positive outlook. I’m Lesley Downs, a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor, registered with the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and I work within their strict code of ethics.
