Phine Dahle is an experienced therapist creating a warm, professional environment working from a Victorian town house in Portswood, Southampton. Working one to one, with couples and groups. The practice also hosts workshops and runs events.

Actually, there is a huge overlap between these three professions because they are all part of the Talking Therapies. Their differences are more in their purposes than in their professional boundaries. Counselling is more to do with listening, comforting and self-understanding. Psychotherapy is more to do with problem solving and finding ‘cures’. Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind.

At Stepping Stones our fully qualified therapists provide counselling and a listening ear for those looking to explore areas of their lives that may be causing anxiety, stress or concern. We provide counselling for a broad range of issues including depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, bereavement, abuse and many other life experiences.

It may be that you have no idea what that is but with a little help, care and nurture it is my belief that together we may be able to work it out. Perhaps you just need someone to talk to, someone to share those thoughts and feelings that can often get stuck inside and go round and round. Or it could be that you know what you want from your life but you need space and support from your counsellor to work out how to get there.

I had my first experience of Counselling over 14 years ago when I was going through a particularly difficult time in my life. I felt completely overwhelmed by feelings of fear and felt incredibly lost. I was referred to see a Counsellor by my G.P. and for the first time I began to feel understood by another person.

There can be occasions in our lives when the people or support networks we would normally turn to are either not appropriate or not available to help with a current difficulty or perhaps to talk about something that happened long ago.
